What Makes Me Different

…and how my superpowers benefit you

When I first started off on this business-owner journey, I quickly realized that my quirks—the unique traits I’d spent a lifetime trying to stuff into my psychic closet because they make me stick out—hold immense energy and power. All those attributes that (I thought) make me weird? All along, they’ve been my superpowers hiding in plain sight. (By the way—the same is true for you.) Here are a few of my quirks … and how they benefit you.

 1. “Such a somber baby.”

Mom took infant me to visit her coworkers.
“Such a somber baby,” they said. “You should take her out more.”

What’s in it for you:

A perceptive business ally who is focused, attuned, observant.
Who is serious about her work and her clients.
(And who—coincidentally—loves to laugh.)

 2. The Haunted Woods

In second grade, my teacher handed me paper and pencil.
“Write,” she encouraged.
During phonics time, I poured my heart into storytelling and penned a 52-page mystery novel.

What’s in it for you:

A copywriter who knows her way around the written word, and a girl who is happy to trade what’s always been done for what should be done here.

 3. “I read somewhere…”

Middle & high school—no matter what my best friend and I were bonding over (lack of a boyfriend, tedious homework assignments, the meaning of life), my contributions were predictably prefaced with, “You know, I read somewhere…”

What’s in it for you:

An avid reader & insatiable learner who soaks up knowledge like a sponge, seeks new information constantly, and brings a deep well of wisdom to every project & person she encounters.

 4. Like OSU does football

I majored in English—surprise—and selected for myself a midwestern liberal arts college whose promotional mailings boasted (I kid you not): “We do poetry the way Ohio State does football.”

What you get:

A skilled & savvy wordsmith who thinks, “When it comes to words, don’t mess with me.” (And a lady who knows very, very little about football.)

 5. “I’ll be home soon; I need to stop at the store.”

I use semicolons in my texts.
I text in complete sentences.
I proofread them.

What’s in it for you:

A jubilant word-nerd who edits + proofreads everything. Who can’t not. Because if you want your brand to be professional and polished, your brand’s writing needs to be professional and polished.

 Finally, 6: My Extra-Credit Life

Ask any of my teachers or employers, ever: “Does she deliver stellar, flawless work that makes you say, ‘Whoa.’?”

They will tell you: Yes.

Yes, she does.

What you get:

A copywriter & business ally with sky-high standards, a rock-solid work ethic, and a heart-centered passion for guiding you and your brand to success—as you define it.

“Working with Meg on a recent website project was eye-opening.  She noticed details that had completely escaped me.  Her perfectionism worked to our great advantage. Meg is a wonderful collaborator – invariably encouraging and enthusiastic.  Her copywriting skills are remarkable; our finished product shone from her tender polish job.  I loved working with her!”
